Exclusive: Leeds United Star Could Leave in Summer After Outburst

Elland Road - Leeds United

The previous leadership of Leeds United has been thrown into question once again, as sources tell Last Word on Football that Patrick Bamford spoke out against the club at a social event late last year. The English striker is understood to have said that the club was “run terribly” and stated his intention to leave in the summer window.

Patrick Bamford’s Outburst

A source close to Last Word on Football has disclosed the fact he attended a social event with the Whites’ striker in December. Bamford is said to have spoken out against the club’s management, with the side experiencing poor results immediately after the World Cup.

The forward, who was injury-stricken at the time, also discussed an intention to leave the club in the summer. With an England cap to his name, Bamford clearly has a lot of potential to perform to a high standard. He could attract a lot of attention following Leeds’ relegation.

What Does This Mean for Patrick Bamford’s Time at Leeds United?

It’s important to note that these comments were made in very different circumstances. Leeds are reportedly under new ownership now, with the club having replaced their manager several times. This churn could be enough to encourage the striker to stay.

However, there is an argument for moving the striker on anyway. His performances have been below par as of late, so a change in environment could be what he needs.

Elland Road Rebuild

Bamford leaving the Whites is not necessarily the end of the world. The club is already undergoing a huge regeneration with a lot of players expected to leave. Young forwards at the club including Matteo Joseph, Sonny Perkins and Joe Gelhardt could grab this opportunity, especially with the lesser challenge of the Championship compared to the Premier League.
