Here is a look at the Chelsea confirmed lineup for their clash with Brighton & Hove Albion as Frank Lampard aims to turn around his poor start to life as interim manager. With a partial eye being kept on future matches some key players are being rested in this one.

Absences

Key defender Thiago Silva is being rested after making his return from injury against Real Madrid in midweek. Another key defender missing out is Reece James, the right-back has had his share of injury problems this season so may be getting rest ahead of a key Champions League game.

Long-term front man Kai Havertz is notably not in the squad at all. The German was an everpresent name under Graham Potter but has now been dropped entirely by the interim coach.

Possible Formation

It would appear that the 4-3-3 utilised against Wolverhampton Wanderers is making a return. The club isn’t playing a natural striker but the fluid front 3 is something that could be tested with Luis Enrique linked to the vacant managerial position.

While we have seen some interesting back three/back five setups from Chelsea this season this looks like a definite four-man backline with Chalobah on the right. Zakaria may be a sitting midfielder to allow the other two to foray forward but the trio could also be a flat line in midfield.
