Real Madrid Run of Form

Having failed to win two of their last five things are quite inconsistent for the Spanish side. They are just as likely to slip up and lose to Villarreal as they are to romp to a 4-0 victory over Barcelona. Such consistency woes have defined their season where they sit second in La Liga, trailing the leaders by 13 points.

Despite all this, the European powerhouse has only lost once in the Champions League this season and they will be confident of making another deep run in the competition.

Chelsea Run of Form

For the home side, underdelivering means being second in the league by some margin. For the Blues, that takes on a whole new meaning. They are out of every domestic cup competition, squeezed past Borussia Dortmund, can’t seem to score a goal to save themselves, and are without a win in the last four games.

The appointment of Frank Lampard has done little to turn around the fortunes of the London side who now find themselves 11th in the Premier League. The only potential positive is that with nothing to play for at home, they can give their all to the Champions League.

Recent Head to Head

Surprisingly, the record between these two teams is heavily dominated by Chelsea. The English side have only been beaten by 14-time winners once in their history. Lampard’s team have come out on top in this fixture four times with two draws to add in the seven meetings between the clubs.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Prediction

Carlo Ancelotti’s men should come away from this with the win. They are facing a squad low on confidence and even lower on goals with an interim coach that was involved in a relegation battle just months ago. A win is a must, a draw would be a disappointment, especially as the game is at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Current Odds

SkyBet currently has the home side as heavy favourites with odds of 7/10 while the visitors trail quite a bit at 4/1.
