Revealed: What Erik ten Hag Will ‘Make’ the Manchester United Squad Do After Liverpool Match – ‘Not Going to Be Easy’

Coming into their game against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon with just one competitive loss in almost four months, no one saw Manchester United putting in anything less than a solid performance at the very least. However, the Red Devils, who were lifting the EFL Cup just a week ago, were beaten in shocking fashion, losing 7-0 to their arch-rivals and putting on their most embarrassing performance in a season where there are many to choose from.

What Luke Shaw Said

In an interview with Viaplay, the English left-back, who has in general been magnificent for United this season, admitted that the performance was unacceptable and revealed what he was sure the boss would make his squad do after the game.

“It’s hard to explain this. I think the standards where we have been at, it was nowhere near it,” Shaw conceded.

“I feel embarrassed for the fans and the people who were watching for us. I can only apologise.

“It’s not going to be easy watching this back. But he [Ten Hag] is going to make us watch it back, and show us what we need to learn from this embarrassment.”

Although it seems a distant memory, it was only this season under Ten Hag that United lost 4-0 to Brentford.

After that game, it was reported that the Dutch manager had made his entire squad run 14km – the distance by which the Bees outran United. This tactic certainly had a positive effect on the side, with their next game being a triumphant 2-1 victory over Liverpool.

Although other than in-depth analysis and a re-watch it is not yet known exactly how Ten Hag will respond to his latest setback at Old Trafford, his track record can give fans some reassurance in knowing that the players will be held accountable for their poor performances.
