Arsenal Informed on Premier League Midfielder; Chelsea and Liverpool Also in the Race

Arsenal Moises Caicedo

Transfer Guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal have shown interest in signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Romano explained: “Moises Caicedo has new agents now and so Arsenal are the latest club being kept informed on the situation. Chelsea have been pushing for weeks and so they remain keen on signing Caicedo. The big issue is Brighton; they want to keep the player.”

Romano went on to confirm that Premier League rivals Liverpool are also being kept informed on the player’s situation.

Why is Caicedo In-Demand?

The Ecuadorian joined Brighton during the January transfer window in 2021 and has been nothing short of a revelation since then.

He is not a goalscoring midfielder, at least not at this point in his career – since the beginning of last season, he has scored just two Premier League goals. However, what he does offer is great defensive nouse, as well as being a competent passer of the ball.

His positioning is excellent, and he has an ability to read the game that is far beyond his years. At just 21 years of age, there is still plenty of time for him to improve even further.

Brighton Set to Lose Another Key Player

It may not happen during this transfer window, but it feels inevitable that Caciedo will, at some point, move on to another Premier League club. If Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool do come knocking, it would be very difficult for the player to turn that opportunity down.

However, it would be a massive blow for Brighton. The Seagulls are used to losing their best players –  Marc Cucurella, Benjamin White, Neal Maupay, Yves Bissouma, Dan Burn and, most recently, Leandro Trossard have all left the club within a short space of time.

It is a testament to the club’s scouting department that despite those departures, the team have continued to punch far above their weight in the Premier League. Caicedo himself has so far been a good replacement for Bissouma, and it is likely that Brighton will also be able to find the perfect replacement for the Ecuadorian should they need to.
