How Arsenal Have Lined-up Recently

As has been the case for the majority of the 2022/23 campaign, Aaron Ramsdale has been between the sticks for the Gunners of late, and he proved his worth twice over against Tottenham Hotspur, making several key saves throughout the match. In front of him, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have remained at centre-back, whilst Benjamin White and Oleksandr Zinchenko continue to be Mikel Arteta’s first-choice full-backs.

A midfield three of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, and Martin Odegaard nits the entire side together, and they have been spearheaded by a front three of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, and Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal Recent Form and Tactics

The Gunners are in great form right now, winning four of their last five fixtures in all competitions. The squad will be full of confidence after their recent 2-0 away victory against Spurs, especially given that the club has since bolstered the side with the signing of Leandro Trossard.

In regards to tactics, Arteta likes his players to dominate the ball and play on the front foot. Zinchenko in particular has allowed the Gunners to become much stronger in this department, regularly moving into midfield to dictate play as well as breaking up opposition counter-attacks. Arsenal’s tendency to play on the front foot with high intensity, which often leads to the North London club making lightning-quick starts in their games – expect more of the same in this match too.

Arsenal Injuries to Consider

Gabriel Jesus continues to be unavailable after the 25-year-old suffered a long-term injury at the Qatar World Cup, as does Reiss Nelson who also picked up an injury during the month of December.

However, there is plenty of good news for Arsenal fans. Emile Smith Rowe will be on the bench once again as he continues his recovery from his own long-term injury, and even more excitingly, new signing Trossard is also eligible for the game.

When questioned on whether the Belgian will be available for the match, Arteta replied: “He trained today, so hopefully”, and also confirmed that the necessary paperwork for his registration was completed in time for the match. Given the form of Martinelli and Saka, the 28-year-old is unlikely to feature in the starting eleven, but could well make an appearance from the bench.
