How Tottenham Have Lined Up Recently

Against Brentford, Spurs deployed a 3-4-3 formation, as they so often do, which allows their wing-backs to operate high and wide and affect the game at both ends of the pitch.

However, their backline had been disrupted due to the Qatar World Cup, with two of their key players, Hugo Lloris and Cristian Romero, both reaching the final and missing this game as a result.

Tottenham Recent Form and Tactics

Harry Kane and co have suffered a stuttering run of form of late, winning two, losing two and drawing one in their last five Premier League fixtures. They have become a ‘second-half team’, often starting matches slowly and needing to make up for lost time in the latter stages of the game.

This was highlighted in their 2-2 draw against Brentford. Spurs played very well in the second half, dominating the game and scoring two goals. But, that still wasn’t enough to secure all three points as they had already allowed the Bees to gain a two-goal advantage over them in the first half.

Tottenham Injuries to Consider

Speaking ahead of their Aston Villa clash, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur and Richarlison are both still injured and will be unavailable for this match.

However, the Italian did have some good news for Tottenham fans, announcing that fan-favourite Cristian Romero is available for the game and has shown “great focus and great desire to come back and play” for the club. Captain Hugo Lloris, who only made the bench against Brentford, could also make a return to the starting lineup.
