England vs Wales Predictions and Best Odds as Scramble for Group B Qualification is On

Harry Kane attacking vs USA. He will play in England vs Wales

Neither England nor Wales have successfully qualified for the next stage of the World Cup yet, with Gareth Southgate’s side the closest of Group B so far. Rob Page’s side need a minor miracle, so could look to attack from the off. See what Last Word on Football thinks will happen in the England vs Wales match, in addition to the best odds currently available.

England vs Wales – Predictions and Best Odds

England Current Run of Form

The Three Lions have had a strong start to the World Cup, going unbeaten and conceding only two goals against the USA and Iran combined. In spite of what appears to be a strong start, there are some questions around the squad. A lack of goals against the USMNT could lead to big questions about Southgate’s management, with a potential reshuffle coming for England in a match that the side would prefer to win.

Wales Current Run of Form

Although Wales can still get out of the group, it doesn’t look likely. A Gareth Bale penalty spared Welsh blushes against the USA, with Wayne Hennessey‘s most recent moment of madness taking the side down to ten men before conceding twice against Iran. At the very least Rob Page needs a comfortable win against England, with the dragons facing impossibly long odds.

What England Need to Qualify

A single point sees England through. The demolition of Iran in the first match means that even if Wales win, the Three Lions need to lose by four goals to drop out of the tournament at this stage.

What Wales Need to Qualify

Wales are in an incredibly desperate position. A Wales win is only enough if the USA and Iran draw their match. A win by four clear goals is what Wales need in the event that there is a decisive result in the other Group B match, as this would overcome England’s goal-difference advantage.

England vs Wales Prediction

After the first two matches of the World Cup, it’s hard to see Wales providing much of a threat. Gareth Southgate only needs a draw, and his England side can turn on the creative flair with relative ease. A comfortable win for the Three Lions seems on the horizon, with Harry Kane captaining the side to the top of Group B.

Current Odds: England vs Wales

Wales are firm outsiders at 7/1, with the England win at 1/2.
