Liverpool vs Leeds United Predictions

Liverpool Current Run of Form

Liverpool have been extremely Jekyll and Hyde over the past few months. The side have won four of their last five matches, beating Rangers, Manchester City, West Ham and Ajax as part of what would be an impressive run, if it weren’t for a 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest last week.

The Reds are generally showing an uptick in form, however, as the opening weeks of the season saw three matches without a win. Liverpool still have the ability to steamroll teams, they’re just more averse to bumps in the road.

Leeds United Current Run of Form

Leeds United haven’t won a single match since playing against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup in August. It’s almost November. Moreover, the only match Jesse Marsch’s side haven’t lost in the last five was a scrappy draw against Aston Villa, in which Luis Sinisterra got himself sent off.

The Whites have, however, performed better against larger sides this season. The pressing style is ideal against clubs that look to dominate the ball, so Leeds’ strikers finishing their chances could make the difference.

Recent Head to Head

Liverpool overpowered Leeds United twice last season, both matches with the Yorkshire side still under the management of Marcelo Bielsa. The aggregate score of 9-0 was fairly extreme, but arguably a fair reflection of how both of the matches went. Since then, the Whites have a new manager.

Liverpool vs Leeds United Prediction

Liverpool haven’t lost a league match at Anfield in front of a crowd since before the pandemic. With Leeds United struggling like they are, a series of players potentially missing for Jesse Marsch’s side and important players such as Thiago potentially returning to the fold, it’s incredibly hard to see anything but a Liverpool victory. 3-1 to the Reds, but it could be far worse for the Whites.

The American has had a little bit more luck against Liverpool. In a Champions League clash as RB Salzburg’s manager, he pulled a 3-0 deficit back to 3-3 within fifteen minutes of half-time. Marsch’s team talk was later released, and Leeds fans will be hoping that he can give their players the same encouragement.

Current Odds: Liverpool vs Leeds United

Liverpool are firm favourites to win at 4/13. The draw is next mostly likely at 13/2, with an away win at 9/1.
