Fabrizio Romano Reveals Manchester United Star’s Future After Training Exile

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to discuss his future with Manchester United in the January transfer window after being banished from first-team training, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Portuguese forward will not play at the weekend against Chelsea on Saturday as he’s been dropped for the game after walking out on the team in the win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

Erik ten Hag Took Decision to Punish Ronaldo After Spurs Win

The 37-year-old forward has been exiled for the next few days, when he’ll have to train all by himself at the Carrington training centre and watch their game against Chelsea while sitting at home. Romano confirms that it was 100 per cent Erik ten Hag’s decision to give this punishment to the striker and that the manager also has the support of the board as well.

Not just the gaffer, but the higher-ups at Old Trafford are also unhappy with Ronaldo’s behaviour after he stormed out of the Spurs game before full-time. The Dutch gaffer wanted to bring him onto the pitch in the last minutes of the game, but Ronaldo flat-out refused to do so. This has been confirmed by the manager himself.

After that, he took the decision to deal with his blatant show of disrespect and has dropped the Portuguese forward from the squad before one of the biggest games of United’s Premier League season.

Ronaldo Could Discuss Potential Exit After ‘Breaking Point’ in Relationship

Romano adds that the relationship between the Portuguese forward and the Red Devils have now reached a breaking point after this drastic step. It’s now likely that all relevant parties will sit down in January to discuss a potential transfer exit for the 37-year-old after he competes with Portugal in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Ronaldo complicated things in pre-season by failing to report for their tour of Asia and reporting very late to join up with his squad, after failing to get a summer transfer to another club. For the foreseeable future, the Portuguese forward will train all alone and not be able to play alongside his teammates either.

He has only scored two goals for the Manchester side this season and started only two Premier League games, causing frustration. With things breaking down between the two, it might be time for Ronaldo and United to find a solution to his future that can please all the parties.
