Cristiano Ronaldo Exploring Manchester United Exit Options Amid Transfer Market Inactivity

Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester Exit

Cristiano Ronaldo is exploring the possibility of leaving Manchester United this summer. The Portugal superstar returned to Old Trafford in a stunning move at the end of last summer, but is unhappy with the club’s lack of “ambition” in the transfer market at present, so is open to finding a new club, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Portugal Legend’s Agent Has Met With Clubs Around Europe

Ronaldo is one of few players at Old Trafford who has been spared severe ciriticism following the club’s disastrous 2021/22 season in all competitions.

The 37-year-old scored 24 goals in 39 matches, but was unable to prevent his side from finishing sixth in the Premier League and dropping into the Europa League for the upcoming season.

Additionally, despite a summer of change being promised to the club’s supporters, new manager Erik ten Hag has so far been left with zero summer signings to work with as he readies himself for a first pre-season as Manchester United manager.

Despite Ronaldo’s known respect for ten Hag, the Portugal captain has grown frustrated with his club’s inactivity so far in the transfer market, and his agent Jorge Mendes has spoken with more than one European club over the prospect of engineering a move for his superstar client.

Bayern Munich Not Looking to Recruit Ronaldo Despite Robert Lewandowski Seeking Exit

One of the clubs Mendes has approached regarding Ronaldo’s situation is Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Ronaldo has never graced the German top-flight, but a transfer to Bavaria is not an option for him at present.

Having already signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool this summer, Bayern are instead focused on keeping hold of their own evergreen striker Robert Lewandowski, despite the Poland forward trying to force a transfer to Barcelona.

Mendes was also involved in recent discussions with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, but United have since played down links between Ronaldo and their Premier League rivals, insisting the player is not for sale.
