Who is Ethan Nwaneri?

A relative unknown before the past weekend, the midfielder didn’t have time to celebrate his senior debut as he was immediately off to represent England at U17 level. He has been playing for the North London side since the age of nine and since the age of 14 has been playing at U18 level.

The teenager has been capped by his nation at both U16 and U17 levels. His consistent output at youth level is what earned him his chance at making history.

Teams Circling

Major sides are always on the lookout for a top prospect. It comes as no surprise that Nwaneri is now garnering looks from some of Arsenal’s rivals. Signing a player of his age is largely a low-risk, potentially high-reward scenario as the fees for such players are never too high. If he doesn’t fulfil his potential then it’s no big deal, but if he does then it comes at a steal.

Despite this interest, there’s a big chance that the prospect remains at his current home. He’s represented the team for years already and may want to repay the faith Mikel Arteta has shown in him. He will especially be aware of the Gunners’ current uptick in form that sees them sit atop the league after seven games.
