Plymouth Argyle Transfer Deadline Day Update

Transfer Deadline Day update

24 hours ago, it seemed as if Plymouth Argyle would have a peacefully quiet final day in the window. Things have changed though and so here is a transfer deadline day update for the Devon club, according to the updates provided by Chris Errington of PlymouthLive.

A Transfer Deadline Day Update at Home Park

Panutche Camara on the Move

Argyle got a lot of their business done early which is always ideal for a manager. Steven Schumacher brought in a number of strong players whilst keeping together the bulk of the squad who performed exceptionally last term. Midfielder Ryan Broom returning to his parent club Peterborough United was the only significant contributor last term who hasn’t remained at Home Park for this season.

This was the case until very recently, with a fee of £500,000 being agreed for Panutche Camara to join Ipswich Town. Camara was a fan-favourite at Home Park last term as the midfielder racked up four goals and six assists in 40 league appearances. The 25-year-old rejected a new deal in the summer, which, has prompted the Pilgrims to entertain offers for the versatile midfielder.

Fellow League One outfit Ipswich Town are the team in question with a move to Portman Road on the verge of completion. While it was always likely that the Guineas-Bissau international would move on to pastures new, fans were building optimism of him staying put as the window got closer to its conclusion.

Another part of the Plymouth Argyle transfer deadline day update is regarding academy product Luke Jephcott. The Welsh striker was on fire 18 months ago and the Green Army couldn’t get enough of him. How times have changed though with Jephcott now very much a backup with a move away from Home Park on the cards. Chris Errington had the following to say on the 22-year-old’s future: “Steven Schumacher says Luke Jephcott will be leaving Argyle before the 11pm deadline and has got ‘a few options on the table’. Could be permanent or on loan by the sounds of it.”

Plymouth Argyle Incomings

Taking on a more positive spin and there is a new face in Devon before the window slams shut. As previously mentioned, a lot of the business was done early by Schumacher. Now though, the transfer deadline day update is that Sam Cosgrove joins the club on the final day. The 25-year-old striker has played for a range of clubs already in his career and he is now set to depart Birmingham City on yet another loan.

Cosgrove will most likely come in as a rotation upon behind the duo of Ryan Hardie and Niall Ennis who are in good form. The flying Scotsman continues to soar in the green and white plus Ennis has netted in the last two league games, which were wins over Forest Green Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

Loanees Bali Mumba and Finn Azaz have both been excellent thus far since joining from Norwich City and Aston Villa respectively so Schumacher’s forays into the market certainly shouldn’t be overlooked. Cosgrove will be here until the end of the season, hopefully he can play a role in a promotion push for the Pilgrims. Any further business seems unlikely in the final hours.
