Chelsea Have Now Submitted Enormous Shock Bid for ‘Sensation’ Who Ralf Rangnick Told Manchester United to Sign – Romano

Fabrizio Romano has tweeted out an exclusive news story regarding Chelsea and their ambition to sign Josko Gvardiol.

Romano states that “Chelsea are in advanced talks with RB Leipzig to sign Josko Gvardiol”. The deal would see the defender, who Ralf Rangnick told Manchester United to sign during his time there, move to Stamford Bridge, but he would remain with the German team until June 2023. The fee submitted is reportedly £77 million.

Centre-Back Sensation

Don’t take our word for it, the Bundesliga website once labelled the Croatian international a “centre-back sensation“. The 20-year-old has quickly risen to prominence after coming through Dinamo Zagreb’s academy. After making just 52 appearances for the club he was picked up by his current side where he has played 51 games.

Accolades have thrown themselves at the defender who was named in The Guardian’s Next Generation list in 2019, the same list that recent signee Cesare Casadei has appeared on, and was in the Trophy Footballer team of the year in 2021.

Potential Thiago Silva Replacement

With the reports that Gvardiol won’t join up with The Blues until next season it begs the question if he is being eyed up as a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva. Thomas Tuchel already has a solid back line to work with this season comprised of Kalidou Koulibaly, Silva, Marc Cucurella, and Cesar Azpilicueta, not to mention the rumoured signing of Wesley Fofana.

The wonderful Brazilian is 37 years old and questions remain over how long he will be able to produce at the highest level. It would appear that Tuchel already has a replacement in mind as his side once again looks to the future with a signing, something we’ve seen more and more of in this window.
