Manchester United Now ‘Expected to Sign’ ‘Perfect’ Striker in Bargain Deal, Bid is Imminent

According to Jason Burt of The Telegraph, Manchester United are set to submit a formal offer for PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo, exciting many Red Devils fans with one calling the Dutch international “the perfect striker for Erik ten Hag”. The skilful attacker would be sure to bring a level of creativity currently missing in the Old Trafford ranks should he join, and, as Burt says, that is now expected to happen.

Dutch International Will Add to the Red Devils

The Mancunian giants are now set to table an official bid for Gakpo. PSV are holding out for around £38 million, but the Red Devils are confident that they can make up the difference with add-ons, with negotiations not expected to be a problem.

The Dutch winger is the no. 1 target for the red half of Manchester to improve their underperforming attacking options following Ajax‘s rejection of their £67.9 million bid for Antony. The Telegraph claimed earlier this month that the Dutch international and United boss Erik ten Hag share the same agent, thus making a move to bring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford more feasible. What Gakpo would bring to Old Trafford

The 23-year-old attacker enjoyed a brilliant season for the Dutch side last campaign, scoring 21 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions. Standing at 6’2″ tall, he should be more than capable of coping with the physicality of Premier League football.

He possesses great control and technique, with excellent movement which would undoubtedly bring dynamism to the Old Trafford attack that has been poor in the opening two league games of the season.

The Dutchman has proven his ability in front of goal, but he also possesses the skillset to play that decisive pass in the final third, creating chances for his teammates. Gakpo would bring versatility to the Red Devils’ attack, capable of playing all across the front line.
