West Ham United Target Gets the ‘Here We Go’ to Juventus

West Ham United target

There have been a number of players on the radar of the Irons this summer. Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet are amongst those to have been completed but it isn’t all positive. Long-term West Ham United target Filip Kostic will not be making the move to English shores. As per Fabrizio Romano, Kostic will be joining Serie A giants Juventus.

West Ham United Target Is Serie A Bound

Filip Kostic to Be Announced by Juventus

West Ham United target Filip Kostic is soon to have a new home as he swaps Germany for Italy. The Serbian was a solid player for a number of years but has hit new heights with Eintracht Frankfurt. He arrived there in 2018 and since then, they have slowly worked their way up the Bundesliga pecking order. As well as competing for a top four spot, he has a Europa League title to his name.

Last season, Frankfurt overcame Rangers of Scotland via a penalty shootout in the final as Aaron Ramsey fired his spot-kick well over the bar. Kostic himself was thriving during the tournament, being voted as the best player in the Europa League and leading the assist charts too.

Frankfurt will have Champions League football in the coming season and the same goes for the Old Lady, who it seems that Kostic will be joining now. Various teams, most notably those in England, had been linked to the 29-year-old for a while. It is instead the Italian giants who have won out. Paulo Dybala has left the Bianconeri with Roma being his destination and now Kostic is replacing him to some extent.

West Ham Targets Snubs the Londoners

As has been previously mentioned, Kostic has long since been a West Ham target. The Irons were at the fore of the transfer interest around him and this skyrocketed following his Europa League success.

Having brought in Ivorian international Cornet from relegated Burnley, the links may well have been dissipating anyway. Both players are left-wingers that can operate as a wingback so there wasn’t space for the pair of them at the London Stadium.

Nayef Aguerd is one player that David Moyes has gotten over the line this summer. The Moroccan centre-back, who joined from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes, unfortunately got injured in a pre-season fixture. This means that there remains a weakness in the backline, made worse by the uncertain future of Issa Diop and the injuries to the likes of Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson.

Kostic to Juventus is a great move for the player and the Italian side, but it is at the detriment of the Hammers. He was a West Ham target but the Cornet move makes it a lot softer of a blow.
