Manchester United Monitoring Talented RB Salsburg Youngster Dubbed ‘Mini Haaland’

Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on RB Salsburg forward Benjamin Sesko, who has been attracting the interest of a number of clubs in Europe.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are well aware of the teenager’s burgeoning potential, and club scouts consider the Slovenia international to be a huge talent for the future. The Old Trafford club are not the only side monitoring the centre-forward’s situation though, with fellow Premier League side Newcastle United also interested in the player.

Premier League Giants are Monitoring the Player but a Deal is not Imminent

Manchester United have been fairly active so far in Erik ten Hag’s first transfer window as the club’s new manager, having struck deals for defenders Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez, plus midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The club are also keeping an eye on Salsburg’s Benjamin Sesko, but if any deal will be made to bring the 19-year-old to Old Trafford, it is far from imminent at this stage.

Sesko has garnered attention from a host of clubs due to his form for the Bundesliga side, for whom he made 37 appearances and scored 11 goals last season. The centre-forward’s exploits in his young career so far have led to him being dubbed the “mini [Erling] Haaland”, according to Aaron Stokes of Chronicle Live. Like Sesko is doing currently, new Manchester City striker Haaland added to his growing international reputation in the German top-flight during his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United Seemingly Focusing Their Attention Elsewhere Despite Striker Situation

The fact that any deal for Sesko would appear to be in its infancy at this stage could perhaps be explained by United’s apparent willingness to focus their transfer ambitions elsewhere for the time being.

Ten Hag’s side are currently embroiled in a protracted pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has reportedly been identified as their first-choice target this summer.

However, the Red Devils’ pursuit of Sesko could possibly be accelerated later on in the window, depending on what happens with Cristiano Ronaldo between now and deadline day.

The Portugal superstar may find himself unable to attract a Champions League suitor before the window slams shut. If the 37-year-old finds himself staying put at Old Trafford, any attempts to sign Sesko could remain consigned to the background. However, should Ronaldo’s situation change, then United may need to act with more urgency to stay ahead of the queue of clubs chasing the talented Sesko.
