Paris Saint-Germain Still Interested in Serie A Striker

Paris Saint-Germain are close to signing Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, according to Fabrizio Romano. Still, it’s not clear whether Sassuolo will accept the offer PSG are willing to make.

Gianluca Scamacca to Paris Saint-Germain?

An Offer They Can Refuse

Talks between the clubs are entering key stages, with Paris Saint-Germain willing to offer around £34 million for Gianluca Scamacca despite Sassuolo having a £42 million price tag on the striker.

With 16 goals in 36 appearances for Sassuolo, Scamacca’s price tag is perhaps understandable. Additionally, if Mauro Icardi leaves as PSG hope, signing Scamacca will be especially important since the club will need a replacement striker.

Christophe Galtier Looking to Reach New Heights With Paris Saint-Germain

The newly appointed Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier, will be looking to take his new club to new levels. From merely practically monopolizing Ligue 1 to being a real and consistent challenger for the UEFA Champions League title.

Galtier has plenty of experience, becoming Marseille’s interim manager in his early 30s, followed by a short stint with Bastia four years later. After another hiatus spanning a few years, Galtier returned to management at Saint Etienne in 2009, where he stayed until 2017. Next, the Frenchman took charge of Lille, who he eventually guided to an unexpected Ligue 1 triumph in 2021.

Even though PSG had eyes on Gianluca Scamacca before Galtier’s tenure began, signings are obviously crucial for a club’s success. Still, PSG seem to struggle despite all of their high-profile signings.

However, Galtier has proven he can achieve success at clubs without the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, even though Lille’s 2021 Ligue 1 title-winning squad wasn’t exactly weak. Galtier’s success has so far only been domestic, though. It will be interesting to see how he will perform in the Champions League.
