Tottenham Hotspur Preparing Bid for Sought After Brazilian Winger

Leeds United winger

Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be preparing a bid for Leeds United winger Raphinha, according to Fabrizio Romano

There has been a lot of buzz around the Brazil international in recent weeks with Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona all interested in the player.

Leeds United Winger Raphinha Is a Serious Target for Tottenham Hotspur

The Raphinha Transfer Saga

Interest in Raphinha is strong and Tottenham are not the only club that are targeting the player. The 25-year-old has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Barcelona for a number of months now. However, the La Liga outfit have yet to agree on a fee with Leeds.

This has opened up the door for other clubs to try and snap up the player. Chelsea have reportedly made contact with the player and Arsenal are understood to have made a bid that was rejected by the Yorkshire club.

It is reported that Raphinha’s preferred move would be Barcelona, however, Leeds are unlikely to sell unless they can meet their valuation, reported somewhere in the region of £65 million. With interest in Raphinha growing, it may not be long before a club meets the valuation and the player will be on the move.

Do Leeds Need to Sell?

With two years remaining on Raphinha’s contract, Leeds hold a strong position at the negotiation table and are seemingly in little rush to move the Brazilian. With Raphina’s preferred move being Barcelona, who have yet to meet Leeds’ valuation, the club also could choose to keep the player for the 2022/23 season.

The winger, who made 35 appearances and scored 11 goals for the Yorkshire club, has been a key player since joining from Rennes for £17 million in the summer of 2020. However, unless he signs a new contract at Elland Road, Raphinha’s value is likely at its peak, meaning that now would be the best time to cash in if his long-term future isn’t at the club.

Leeds have already spent upwards of £40 million in the transfer window so far, completing the signings of Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg, along with Marc Roca from Bayern Munich. Therefore, the club may want to cash in on Raphinha now in order to reinvest the funds into a squad that secured Premier League survival on the final day of the season.
