Tottenham Could Complete Swap Deal for £60 Million Wonderkid While Manchester United Watch On

Benoit Badiashile

According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham Hotspur could potentially look at Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile. Gold revealed in a Q&A session: “I understand Monaco have shown an interest in Davinson Sanchez and I do wonder whether Spurs might look at Benoit Badiashile, their France U21 international left-sided centre-back if any discussions take place”.

The 21-year-old is a fantastic talent with endless potential and could be exactly what Spurs need, but the deal is not without its complications. Badiashile would reportedly cost a “Martial-like” figure in the region of £60 million, and the Noth London side are not alone in targeting him, with Manchester United also interested.

A Great Option as Antonio Conte Attempts to Build Dynasty

The signing of Badiashile would be a magnificent one for Spurs.

Ever in need of a new centre-back, this potential addition could set them up for the next ten years, with the Frenchman having the potential to play right at the top of the game.

It would also represent yet another smart addition under Antonio Conte, who it is now known will be staying at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium this summer.

Conte has already completed deals for the likes of youngster Dejan Kulusevsky and the more experienced Ivan Perisic, with whom he has previously worked, but Badiashile would be a true statement signing. He would provide balance to Perisic, who is 33 years old, but would also show the world that Spurs mean business.

Beating clubs like United to the signature of a youngster is not easy, but doing so would show the North London side’s pulling power to be increased, at least partly thanks to the presence of a manager like Conte.

Moreover, this potential move would demonstrate how Tottenham are conducting their business intelligently this summer, with a swap to lower the cost and a forward-thinking addition to their squad.
