Tottenham Hotspur Agree Bargain Fee for Brighton & Hove Albion Midfielder

According to Gary Jacob of The Times, Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for Yves Bissouma. The agreed-upon fee is reportedly an absolute bargain of £25 million  for the Premier League midfielder. While the North London club are seeking a Premier League quality centre-back , they look set to add a quality midfielder to their squad for a steal of a price.

Premier League Experience

The Mali international Bissouma first made his mark in Ligue 1 for Lille before making the move to Brighton in 2018. In his debut season for the Sussex-based side, Bissouma made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring just once.

The 25-year-old has gone on to make 123 appearances in all competitions for the club, with 112 coming in the Premier League. If the deal can be done then Antonio Conte’s side will be picking up a midfielder with a lot of Premier League experience for a good price.

Smart Moves From Tottenham

Conte’s decision to remain with Tottenham came after he was promised support in the transfer window from those in charge, following a public falling out over transfer policy earlier this year. The team has been quick to make smart signings to kick off the summer window with Fraser Forster brought in as a back-up goalkeeper and versatile option Ivan Perisic signed from Inter Milan on a free transfer.

Currently, while on the look out for defensive reinforcements, Tottenham are being linked with promising players like Djed Spence and now Bissouma to fill out the squad available to their Italian head coach.

With Champions League football on the horizon for the lilywhites, these moves will be necessary as they aim to put together a squad that can compete on multiple fronts and give Conte the best possible chance of securing Champions League football for a consecutive season.
