Key Midfielder Needs Replacing Before Exit – Xavi

Key midfielder

Ferran Martinez, a reliable journalist who follows Barcelona, has recently posted on Twitter that Xavi will be happy to let go of key midfielder Frenkie de Jong. However, this would only be the case if Barcelona sign an important player.

Both Xavi and Frenkie de Jong have been reportedly reluctant about the idea of this transfer. Barcelona’s financial situation, however, may see this saga taken out of their hands.

Xavi Happy To Let Key Midfielder Frenkie de Jong Go If A Replacement Is Assured

Barcelona’s Current Financial Status May Open the Door for Frenkie de Jong’s Departure

The midfielder’s situation has been labelled one of the most-watched transfers of the upcoming window. Erik ten Hag is continuing to push for a move, so they are reunited on the red side of Manchester.

There has been some uncertainty about the outcome of this transfer, but it may end with de Jong leaving due to economic reasons.

According to a new report from Onze Tv: “Xavi spoke with Frenkie de Jong and explained that his possible departure would be conditioned by the economic situation. He also explained that the Barcelona board was not particularly happy with the player’s performance.”

Possible Replacements for Frenkie de Jong

Barcelona’s back-room staff are planning in case de Jong packs his bags this summer. The Catalans have shifted their focus on either signing Bernardo Silva or Robert Lewandowski to alleviate the loss of the Dutch midfielder.

Bernardo Silva has impressed in the Premier League and in turn, won the interest of the Barcelona manager. Silva has been instrumental in City winning their fourth domestic title in five years. Understandably, Pep Guardiola wants Silva to remain at Manchester City and has admitted that Barcelona will struggle to sign the 27-year-old. He said: “They will have a difficult time.”

In an interview with The Times earlier this year, Silva alluded to how he felt homesick and wanted to leave the Citizens last summer.

Meanwhile, Polish talisman Lewandowski has reported that his incredible career at European giants Bayern Munich is coming to an end and has expressed his desire to join the Spanish giants. If Barcelona decide to pursue this transfer, they could face competition from Liverpool for his signature. To the delight of Barcelona fans, Xavi is refusing to rule out bringing the striker to the Camp Nou.
