AC Milan Are Targeting Club Brugge Midfielder

AC Milan are targeting

Italian giants AC Milan are targeting Belgian playmaker Charles De Ketelaere, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Rossoneri are fresh off a Serie A crown, and subsequently a major takeover, but are showing no signs of slowing down. Before returning to the top of Italy, Milan made it a priority to discover and develop young talent. De Ketelaere may be next in line.

Talent and Potential to Grow

De Ketelaere is just 21-years-old. Milan already have plenty of youthful stars, such as Rafael Leao, Sandro Tonali, Theo Hernandez, Fikayo Tomori, and more, so De Ketelaere fits the bill in the current set-up. This past season, Milan were the youngest team to lift the Serie A trophy in the three-points-for-a-win era, so the club is opting to continue with their successful formula.

The young Belgian currently plies his trade for Club Brugge. This past season, he scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 33 Jupiler Pro League matches. He also started in over 90 per cent of said matches, showing how much Brugge valued him. In addition, De Ketelaere already has Champions League experience under his belt.

Two seasons ago, De Ketelaere scored three goals and provided four assists in 32 league matches. His major jump in production and quality is obvious.

Milan aren’t strangers to Belgian players either. Alexis Saelemaekers, who’s a member of the Belgian national team, already plays for Milan and starts many matches. In addition, Milan are close to bringing in former Liverpool (and Belgian) striker Divock Origi. De Ketelaere will mesh well quite quickly.

Should he arrive, perhaps De Ketelaere isn’t an immediate starter at Milan. With that being said, the attacking midfield position can be taken. Brahim Diaz lost the starting position and is on loan at Milan. Franck Kessie started there a number of times but is on his way out to Barcelona. Yacine Adli joins Milan after being at Bordeaux on loan, but the position is certainly available.
