Conor Gallagher Discussing Future With Thomas Tuchel
Chelsea’s academy has developed a fierce reputation for developing talents. Whether it be Roma’s Tammy Abraham or the Blues’ own Reece James, the club’s youth setup has been known to produce talented footballers. Conor Gallagher may just be the brightest prospect to have ever been made in Cobham. After capturing the FIFA U-17 World Cup with England, Gallagher went on to be Chelsea Academy player of the year in the 2018/19 season.
Gallagher followed up his standout academy performances with spells on loan. First, he headed to the Championship for Charlton Athletic and Swansea City, playing 26 and 21 games for each respective club. Gallagher made the jump to the Premier League for his next loan spell with West Bromwich Albion where he played in 32 games and scored two goals. Last season Gallagher once again went on loan, this time to Crystal Palace, where he had a standout season, starting 39 games for the team and scoring eight times as he went on to win the team’s player of the year award.
Conor Gallagher has proven that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League, and with Chelsea seemingly looking to move on from injury-prone N’Golo Kante there may be a spot opened up for the young Englishman. Thomas Tuchel has been known to trust young players, Gallagher may just be his next great discovery.
