Crystal Palace continue to impressive in the transfer market, confirming the arrival of Conor Gallagher on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Palace’s recruitment has caught plenty 0f attention so far this summer.

New manager Patrick Vieira has recruited Michael Olise, Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen so far, all of whom impressed with their retrospective club’s last season. They have also added Remi Matthews to their ranks, although he is expected to be their third-choice goalkeeper.

Gallagher makes the move to south London after a successful loan spell with West Bromwich Albion last summer. The 21-year-old made 31 appearances for the Baggies last season, scoring two goals and registering two assists.

The England U21 international is predominantly a box-to-box midfielder, and will provide plenty of competition at Selhurst Park.

This will be the 21-year-old’s fourth loan away from Stamford Bridge, following spells with Swansea City, West Brom and Palace’s south London rivals, Charlton Athletic.

Speaking about his move to the club website, Gallagher said: “I’m buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started, I’m happy to get the deal over the line.

“I spoke to the manager, I liked what he said, I liked how he wants to play, how he wants me to play and how he wants the team to play. I feel like I can learn from him and the players around me.”

Steve Parish, the club chairman, added: “I am delighted Conor has chosen to come to Crystal Palace on a season-long loan after some impressive performances in the Premier League last season.

“We very much look forward to him joining the squad as we continue to build towards the new season.”
