Ivan Perisic Contract Situation Up in Air

Ivan Perisic contract situation

Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic contract situation is currently up in the air. Inter won Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday, May 11, beating Juventus 4-2 thanks to two Perisic goals in extra time. Clearly, the Croatian is a significant player in the squad. Perisic, however, sees his contract with the Milan giants expire next month.

Ivan Perisic Contract Situation Unresolved

What Perisic Said

“I don’t know what’s gonna happen for my extension with Inter – but you can’t manage the situation like this with important players… you can’t wait until the end,” Perisic said in quotes reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Romano also mentions that the contract proposal offered to Perisic is lower than his current deal.

These aren’t exactly the words a club wants to hear from an important player. Time will tell how the situation will end up, but Perisic made it clear that he does not feel like he’s been treated properly in the negotiations.

Perisic is a very important player to this Inter team. In 33 Serie A appearances, Perisic holds seven goals and six assists this season. He’s also been named in the starting 11 for 92% of the matches he’s played in. Perisic also plays a role as a leader for the reigning Scudetto champions.

This statement comes at an interesting time. Just recently, club CEO Beppe Marotta made remarks on the future of Juventus star Paulo Dybala. Dybala’s agent has denied any agreements have been made. Dybala and Perisic are similar players in the sense that they both perform best on the wing.

Perhaps things are subject to change. Inter are riding a high right now as they hoist the Coppa Italia trophy. There’s still a possibility that the team wins a consecutive Scudetto. Should that be the case, Inter would likely do their best to hold onto a player such as Perisic.
