Erik ten Hag Looking to Push for Dutch Midfielder

As of now, there has been no agreement between both parties regarding the future of Dutch international Frenkie de Jong. Though, the trustworthy Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United have made contact with Barcelona with the hope of signing de Jong to bolster their midfield reinforcements this summer. Erik ten Hag is keen on bringing the current Barcelona midfielder. To the delight of Manchester United fans, Barcelona’s financial situation is something that they can take advantage of.

The two fellow Dutchmen have been linked with a reunion at Old Trafford, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed. Ten Hag will be looking to recreate the scenes of Ajax’s European campaign in the 2018/19 season.

If de Jong arrives in the summer transfer window, he will reunite with former team-mate Donny van de Beek on his return from Goodison Park. Erik ten Hag will be hopeful that the Dutch duo will be able to mirror their impressive performances when they were played in Holland’s capital.

It has also been reported that Champions League football remains a priority and it is not foreseen whether he will settle for playing in the Europa League with the Red Devils.

Manchester United’s Need for a Midfielder

A busy summer under ten Hag’s watch is imminent with de Jong looking to be a potential incoming player, especially as the new manager is an avid admirer.

Ralf Rangnick’s short-term tenure as interim manager has made Manchester United’s issue glaringly obvious and one of the main ones is their lack of midfield depth. With a department already light, the departure of two senior figures, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba is an area of concern for incoming coach ten Hag.

All things considered; ten Hag should be pulling out all the stops to bring in Frenkie de Jong to bolster their chances to get back into those sacred Champions League spots.
