Liverpool Predicted Lineup v Villarreal in Champions League

Liverpool predicted lineup

Seeking to pull off another Champions League upset, Spanish side Villarreal travel to Merseyside to face Premier League giants Liverpool in a fierce semi-final clash. They will be looking to continue their form under Unai Emery and will be chasing their dreams to become an underdog success story. Liverpool’s hectic week will conclude with them hoping to ignite their hopes of the unprecedented quadruple with a semi-final win. Today, we look at a predicted Liverpool lineup ahead of the game.

Liverpool Predicted Lineup As They Look to Continue Their Fine Form

Liverpool Full of Confidence

Although Villarreal have been the surprise package of the tournament following wins over Juventus and Bayern Munich, Liverpool may be their sternest test of the campaign.

The red men from Merseyside were among the favourites prior to the tournament; they have all eyes on the prize with the hope to return to the final for the first time after their European win in 2019 to try and begin their journey to a remarkable quadruple.

Since their quarter-final triumph against Benfica, Liverpool have beaten league leaders Manchester City, Manchester United and Everton.

Liverpool are favoured to progress into the final, where the other semi-final is a contest between two powerhouses of European football: Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Liverpool Luckily Without Many Injury Worries

Luckily for Jurgen Klopp and his team, they are almost a fully fit outfit with Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino being the only major doubt. Firmino’s unfortunate foot injury ruled him out of both wins over Manchester United and Everton – Liverpool have used Sadio Mané in the false 9 role in his absence. It looks like this decision will continue at Anfield with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah as his partners in Liverpool’s leading line.

Elsewhere, Klopp has got full ammunition to sink the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal are having to sideline Gerard Moreno in the hope he will return to full fitness for the second leg. Former Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno is also unlikely to feature in the match-up against his old team.
