Luka Modric Contract Among Two Key Renewals Targeted by Real Madrid

Luka Modric Contract

Real Madrid will discuss a Luka Modric contract renewal, as well as one for Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior, this May, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Modric’s contract expires in two months. With that being said, both club and player have intentions of staying together. Vinicius’ contract does not expire until June 2024, but he’s likely in line for a raise after a stellar season.

The renewal of Modric is very important not only because he is a key player, but it’s difficult to imagine who could replace him.

Bright History and Future

Modric has a storied history with the club. He added more accolades to that with his fantastic performances recently versus Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals. He turns 37 early into next season but remains a top player. Modric will most certainly remain a starter, but his product on the pitch is not the only thing he brings. The Croatian holds vast experience and leadership, which is important to Real Madrid with another veteran Gareth Bale departing.

He’s now won 18 trophies with the club and expecting more. In the event that Real Madrid win La Liga and/or the Champions League this season, Modric’s lore will only grow.

Vinicius is playing stellar football at the moment and at only 21-years-old, he’s only going to get better. In 29 La Liga appearances this season, he holds 14 goals and 10 assists to his name. In the Champions League, he has scored two goals and provided seven assists in 10 appearances. At the moment, he looks to be the future of the club’s attack.

In short, Real Madrid certainly like the star players they have and will make sure to keep them around.
