Chelsea Players Deliver on the Pitch Despite Recent Sanctions

Chelsea players

It has been a whirlwind couple of days at Stamford Bridge and the future is uncertain for Chelsea players and fans alike as the club sits in limbo waiting to be sold and removed from the ownership of Roman Abramovich. With sanctions in place and their futures up in the air, it would have been easy for the team on the pitch to let their heads drop, but instead, both the men’s and women’s teams have rallies to deliver on the pitch in that time.

Chelsea Players Have Not Let Their Heads Drop Amidst Current Sanctions

The Day Of

March 10 was the day the club officially got sanctioned. That same day, both the men’s and women’s teams played away games. Both games almost went under the radar, feeling somewhat meaningless against the backdrop of such an unprecedented situation. But, the players stood tall and sent a defiant message to the fans by winning both games with ease. On the men’s side, Chelsea went ahead after just three minutes and won 3-1. As for the women, they smashed West Ham 4-1 to continue their march towards the WSL title.

Following It Up

A few days removed from the sanctions everything was still up in the air with the club, the domino effects were in place and both Chelsea teams played on the same day again. Once again, both the men and women delivered the results that fans need. Kai Havertz scored Chelsea’s winner in the 89th minute on the men’s side, whilst super Sam Kerr scored the women’s winner in the 92nd minute. It was almost written in the stars for both sets of Chelsea players to fight until the very last touch for the club, despite the ongoing issues surrounding it.

Thomas Tuchel and his leadership must be commended during this spell. Not only have his team been delivering on the field, but he’s been as charming as ever. His latest uplifting sound bite saw him promise to drive the team bus to Lille himself if he had to.

Can The Parallels Continue?

Both teams take to the pitch once again on March 20, the Chelsea men will play Lille in Champion’s League action, while the women’s side plays Everton in one of their two games in hand on league leaders Arsenal. The run of form will no doubt come to an end eventually but for now, the Chelsea players must be commended for playing their hearts out on the pitch for a fanbase that needs these good results right now.
