Chelsea Women have announced a Sam Kerr contract extension.

The Australian forward has signed for a further two years, keeping her with The Blues until the summer of 2024.

Contract Extension Came Naturally for Sam Kerr

Kerr, 28, has scored 39 goals in 47 appearances for the reigning Women’s Super League champions and will look to add to her impressive tally over the next few seasons.

She has played for Australia 102 times, scoring 49 goals.

Sam Kerr told chelseafc.com of her extension: “It’s really exciting. I’m really happy at the club. We’ve had good success, being at a club like Chelsea is an amazing opportunity.

“The time was just right, I feel really comfortable being here. I think the club gives me every opportunity to succeed as a player.

“I can’t see myself going anywhere else in the world or leaving Europe, having what I have at Chelsea.

“The time was right, honestly, I didn’t feel like I wanted to rush into anything, just like signing here the first time, it just happened naturally.

“I hadn’t won much when I came here and after last season, I think it’s just a no-brainer for me to stay.”

Reason to Believe She Can Add to Her Successes With Chelsea

Before joining Chelsea in 2019, Kerr came with three club trophies to her name; The W-League Championship with Sydney FC, NWSL Shield with Western New York Flash and a W-League Premiership with Perth Glory.

She has added two WSL titles and two League Cups plus a Community Shield during her stay with The Blues, who are headed for another title-chasing campaign, sitting one point shy of Jonas Eidevall’s impressive Arsenal side.

Chelsea were also runners-up in the Women’s Champions League last year – losing to Barcelona. They continue to shine in that competition again as they look to go one better under exceptional manager Emma Hayes.

Chelsea Women general manager Paul Green said: “We are absolutely delighted that Sam has extended her deal with the club. Sam is quite simply one of the world’s best strikers and goalscorers.

“We look to continue to build on our recent successes, and Sam will play a big role in achieving these targets in the future.”

Chelsea thrashed Manchester City 4-0 at the weekend and return to Champions League action on Thursday, November 18, hosting Servette, whom they put seven goals past last time out.
