Fabio Paratici’s Juventus History Helps Tottenham Complete Rodrigo Bentancur Signing

Double Swoop

With the January transfer window nearing its conclusion, Tottenham fans would be forgiven for worrying that their team was looking at making no signings in yet another window. But, with director of football and chief transfer negotiator Fabio Paratici having a strong relationship with his former club Juventus, those fears have been allayed with two reported signings. Winger Dejan Kulusevski joins on loan, with an option to buy, which could become mandatory, whilst Bentancur joins in a permanent move from the Serie A giants, according to reports.

First Signings

The two players will become Antonio Conte’s first since taking over the Tottenham hot seat from Nuno Espírito Santo. Bentancur is a Uruguayan midfielder and has been a first-team regular at Juventus, helping them to win three Serie A titles. He will be vying for a starting midfield berth at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium with the likes of Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The deal is for €19 million and has been aided by Juventus closing in on a direct replacement for the player in Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach whose contract is due to expire at the end of the current season. Juventus will be doing good business with Zakaria available for a cut price of just €5 million leaving them with enough in the bank to close out other deals if they see fit to add further to their ranks before the window closes.

With team mate Kulusevski and Paratici at Spurs, it should not take the player long to settle into his new surroundings of North London.
