Watford Sack Claudio Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri

According to Adam Leventhal of The Athletic, Watford have sacked Claudio Ranieri and are now looking for their 11th manager in seven years as the owners lurch from manager to manager in what is fast becoming an almost farcical series of appointments. The Pozzo family are famous for their ruthless approach to managerial appointments so the sacking of Ranieri should come as no surprise and Watford are once again looking at another relegation from the Premier League.

Managerial Merry Go Round Continues – Watford Sack Claudio Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri Had No Time

Since Watford sacked Xisco Munoz after just seven games of the 2021/22 season, they turned to the Tinkerman himself in Claudio Ranieri but apart from some positive results, a 4-1 win over Manchester United being a standout amongst them, they have lost far too many games since his arrival and the turnaround in form has never arrived – leaving Watford facing a tough task to remain in the Premier League.

Norwich City Defeat Final Straw

As Watford came up against fellow strugglers Norwich City at Vicarage Road they knew that a win would help to give them confidence ahead of a huge relegation battle. instead of victory, however, it was a surrender that saw Norwich win 3-0 and move out of the bottom three leaving Watford in the place they left behind. The nature of the performance and the lack of any sign of improvement has proved to be the final straw for the Pozzo family.

Ranieri delivered a worse run of form than any of the other Watford sackings with nine defeats in 11 games. And with the season gearing up for its conclusion in four months there was no time left for Ranieri. How long the next manager will last remains to be seen. Considering it’s Watford, and their reputation, however, the man will need a quick start.
