Defensive Midfielder Wanted by Lorient

According to Romano and French newspaper l’Equipe, Lorient have been wanting to strengthen in midfield and also in attack and Innocent fits the profile for the former. Innocent has played for Malmo who play in the Swedish Division One in the Champions League after he signed for them in 2017.

Struggling

Lorient are struggling in the league this season and sit in 18th place in the table needing to change their form to move away from the relegation zone. Innocent is a 25 year old Nigerian footballer and because he has already left Malmo he is available on a free transfer leaving him free to choose his next destination.

Malmo

Innocent was in talks with Malmo to sign a new contract with the club but neither party could agree on a deal to extend the contract and therefore it ran out. Despite still being young he has gained good experience not least with his Champions League appearance and he also faced Chelsea in the Europa League in 2019.

Versatile

Innocent is able to play as central defender as well as being a central defensive midfielder who is powerful and known for covering the pitch as well as having a strong mentality despite his tender years.

The deal to move to Lorient now looks very likely to be concluded soon and will see the player go straight into the squad ready to face up to the challenge of keeping the French club in Ligue One.
