The sudden rise in cases of coronavirus – sparked by the emergence of the Omicron variant – has resulted in severe disruptions across the footballing pyramid.
Matches across the Premier League and EFL have had to be postponed with just a handful of top-flight fixtures being played last Saturday (December 18), whilst fewer than half of the scheduled fixtures throughout the Football League’s three divisions took place that weekend.
