Paul Pogba: Manchester United Not in Talks With Any Club Over January Sale

Manchester United are not currently in discussions with any other club over the sale of France international Paul Pogba, who will be out of contract in the summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a new contract proposal for Pogba has been on the table since July, with the club hopeful the midfielder will sign it. The player, however, remains undecided as to his future, and will be legally able to speak to foreign clubs as of next month over a free transfer in the summer.

Pogba Will be Out of Contract at the end of the Season

With the player himself unsure where he will be next season, debate will rage as to Pogba’s future until he signs for a new club in the summer, or extends his stay at Old Trafford by accepting the club’s existing offer of a contract extension.

Pogba re-signed for Manchester United for £89 million in 2016, but will leave the Premier League side as a free agent for a second time if he elects to turn down their contract proposal. What is clear for now is that the 28-year-old looks set to be staying in Manchester beyond the upcoming January transfer market, as United have not held talks with any clubs over a possible exit and want to midfielder to stay.

Despite the wishes of the club being clear, opinion is split among United supporters as to whether Pogba signing a new deal would be welcomed or not. While some argue that a player of Pogba’s undisputed talent should be celebrated and cherished by the fans, others are unhappy with the player’s indecision and the fact that he appears to be playing a waiting game with the club before deciding his future.

Pogba is Yet to Feature Under Ralf Ragnick

Despite starting the season well under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – Pogba has registed seven assists in the nine Premier League games he has featured in this campaign – the Frenchman succumbed to a hamstring injury and has been absent throughout the opening weeks of interim manager Ralf Ragnick’s tenure so far.

The player is gradually returning to fitness, and spoke to his new manager before returning to the country to continue his rehabilitation over the festive period. Pogba will hope to return to full match-fitness in the coming weeks and help the club salvage their season under Ragnick in what could be his final months as a Manchester United player.
