Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek 14 Picks

Quick Tips

The upcoming few weeks are going to be hectic for FPL managers, so it is better to plan ahead. Astute FPL managers always have two or three playing substitutes on the bench and they were rewarded for that contingency planning when the Burnley-Spurs game got postponed due to heavy snow. These freak occasions are rare but in the next few weeks, many players will get a rest from time to time. So, this is the right time to set up your squad for this busy period.

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek 14: Fixtures to Target

Everton v Liverpool

Everton have drawn the last four Merseyside derbies at Goodison Park. However, things look rather bleak for the Toffees this time around. They are in terrible form with no wins in seven and are still missing many players due to injuries. The return of Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucouré will help but a comfortable Liverpool win is the likeliest outcome. In fact, they could run riot and make things really embarrassing for former manager, Rafa Benitez. The fans are already angry and Liverpool will relish making things even worse for them with a thumping win. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mané are all great options.

Watford v Chelsea

Chelsea‘s lead at the top was cut by a couple of points last round with Manchester City now just a solitary point behind them. The Blues will want to get back to winning ways in this fixture. Watford‘s defence looked very shaky against Leicester City and with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner available, Chelsea will fancy themselves to score a few here. Thomas Tuchel was disappointed with the finishing by his forwards as they could not score more goals from their 24 shots. In fact, they needed a penalty to draw level against Manchester United. Chelsea will have a tough away game at West Ham United after this so could Tuchel rest a few players for this one? Reece James and Marcos Alonso are the ones to have in your FPL team whereas Lukaku could get a start in this one.

Southampton v Leicester City

It is impossible to forget the 9-0 match while talking about this particular encounter. Jamie Vardy scored a hat-trick in that game with James Maddison also scoring. However, Vardy has not scored against the Saints since then. This season, Southampton are struggling and have lost the last couple of games. The Foxes got a morale-boosting victory against Watford on Sunday with Vardy back on the scoring sheet with a brace. James Maddison looked in sublime form with a goal and assist as well. Overall, Leicester fans will hope for all three points here.

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek 14: Things to Consider

Tottenham Hotspur have back-to-back home games against Brentford and Norwich City coming up. Besides, their players should be fresh after the postponement of the Burnley game. Therefore, consider the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Sergio Reguilón. Brentford are not a comfortable team to play against, though.

Newcastle United badly need a win. Their next two home fixtures are against fellow strugglers Norwich City and Burnley. Ideally, they should win both these games and edge closer to safety. However, Matt Ritchie and Jamaal Lascelles are suspended for this crucial game. On the other hand, Norwich are in decent form with seven points from the last three matches. In fact, they might see this fixture as a chance to catch Leeds United. Whatever happens, this will be a very interesting game to kick off this gameweek that is for sure.

Struggling Leeds United will hope to win at home but it won’t be easy against an in-form Crystal Palace who can boast of an away win against the mighty Manchester City. Conor Gallagher, Wilfried Zaha and Cristian Benteke should be considered, especially with a decent run of fixtures coming up for the Eagles. In contrast, Leeds fans are hoping for their injured stars Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling to return as soon as possible after a long layoff for both.

Captaincy Options

Liverpool players are the best options this week with Mohamed Salah a safe choice as usual. You might take a punt on a Chelsea player as well but with the West Ham game on the horizon, it will be a risky decision.
