Favourable Run of Fixtures

From Gameweek nine, Brentford start a nice set of fixtures that will see them avoid facing any of the top four sides. To be frank, Thomas Frank’s side has performed admirably against Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham United and were unlucky to lose against Chelsea on Saturday. They had superb wins against Arsenal, Wolves and West Ham and also got good away draws at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. Their defence has been pretty solid and has conceded only seven goals so far. On the other hand, their attack has also looked sharp and should have scored more than the 10 goals they have managed. One can make a case for both defensive and offensive FPL picks from the Bees.

Brentford’s FPL Assets: Attackers

Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo are the most popular Brentford picks and they are both good options. In fact, it may not be a bad idea to own them both. They don’t cost that much and could produce useful returns.

Toney is the penalty taker and the main target man. On the other hand, Mbeumo is cheaper and is classed as a midfielder on FPL. He has already hit the woodwork six times this season which seems quite unbelievable. Both Toney and Mbeumo have scored two goals each so far. Despite taking some set pieces, the latter has not managed any assist yet. Comparing the two attackers, you can see the Frenchman having a non-penalty xG of 3.7 compared to Toney’s 1.5. However, the Englishman has an impressive xAssist of 2.5 to Mbeumo’s 0.7. At almost one unit cheaper, Mbeumo is definitely the better pick. At £5.5, he is a brilliant option.

Toney’s attacking stats present a tale of someone who is playing more for the team than himself. However, he can score from open play and has the penalties in his locker as well. Getting those points from assists won’t hurt either.

Brentford’s FPL Assets: Defensive Options

David Raya has kept three clean sheets so far. He’s the fifth-highest scoring goalkeeper in the game this season. However, he costs less than either of the four ahead of him. Compared to the more popular Robert Sanchez of Brighton & Hove Albion, Raya’s stats seem much better. He has produced 18 saves to the 15 made by Sanchez and has better pass completion stats also. Considering the comfortable run of fixtures coming up for Brentford, you could get Raya in.

Pontus Jansson and Ethan Pinnock have proved incredible value with 40 points apiece so far this season. They are both big threats in set-piece situations and might keep some clean sheets as well. Incredibly, Jansson has three assists to his name already. Brentford are quite good from corners and you should definitely consider one of Jansson and Pinnock for this run of fixtures.

Rico Henry has not produced any attacking returns yet but his performances from wing-back have been pretty decent. He goes forward quite a lot and one could hope for an assist.

Who to Pick?

Considering his price, Bryan Mbeumo is the best pick from Brentford. Ethan Pinnock and David Raya are great options at 4.6 whereas Ivan Toney is a wonderful striker option for this run. You should own at least two from those four options.
