Vladimir Coufal Signs New West Ham United Contract

Vladimir Coufal

According to Roshane Thomas of The Athletic, West Ham United full-back Vladimir Coufal has signed a new three-year deal at the London Stadium. Ever since joining the club, the right-back has surprised many with the quality in which he possesses. Not many fans made much of it when he made the switch to West Ham from Slavia Prague last year. A year later, however, and everyone in the Premier League knows exactly who he is, and exactly how good he is.

Coufal represents the improved business of West Ham, who have barely put a foot wrong in the market since the reintroduction of David Moyes. And that reintroduction has led to new heights, including a place in the Europa League group stage.

New Contract Shows West Ham Progress

Although not necessarily the biggest star, the fact that one of the first names on the West Ham team sheet has put pen to paper on a new deal, shows just how far the Hammers have come. In previous years, it became a given that one squad would last two seasons maximum before going their separate ways. This time feels different, however. They don’t feel like a flash in the pan; a problem for big teams that will go away. Instead, they look here to stay.

So far this season, they’ve picked up where they left off last year, and then some, with Michail Antonio particularly impressive, scoring six goals and assisting a further four in just seven games. If the Player of the Year competition had to be decided now, it would be the forward that picked up the award.

There’s still a long way to go, of course, but right now, West Ham can simply do now wrong under David Moyes.
