Paris Saint-Germain: New Kylian Mbappe Deal Not Close

Kylian Mbappe Deal

In quotes from L’Equipe, cited by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, a new Kylian Mbappe deal is not close for Paris Saint-Germain and he did want to exit the club for Real Madrid in the 2021 summer transfer window but his current club were not interested in selling. Mbappe is not happy with some of the statements made around the proposed transfer.

Paris Saint-Germain: New Kylian Mbappe Deal Not Close to Conclusion

No Dialogue Over Mbappe Deal for Two Months

Despite Mbappe remaining at PSG, there is yet to be any conclusion to proposed new contract talks with Mbappe saying there has been no dialogue between parties for the past two months with the player able to sign pre-contract agreements with potential suitors in January 2022.

Criticism of Paris Saint Germain

Mbappe is unhappy with how his club dealt with the proposed transfer to Real Madrid and claims that he made the club fully aware of his desire to join the La Liga giants in July 2021.

Mbappe’s has told French radio station RMC Sport (via Sky Sports) of his request to leave the Ligue 1 side: “I asked to leave. Because at the moment that I did not want to extend my contract. I wanted the club to get a transfer fee to get a replacement of quality.”

The Sky Sports report claims Real were ready to splash out £197 million on Mbappe and even with the possibility of losing the striker for nothing next summer, PSG refused to change their stance. Mbappe feels he wanted to leave on good terms: “I wanted everyone to come out of this stronger, that we leave hand in hand, to make a good deal and I respected that.“

Contract Refusal Rumours Not True

Mbappe has been criticised in some parts for refusing to sign between six and seven contract offers but he has refuted those claims stating; “People have said that I refused six or seven offers of extension, that I do not want to talk to [sporting director] Leonardo, this is absolutely not true.”

PSG will now hope they can agree a new deal with Mbappe or risk taking a huge financial loss should he allow his contract to expire.

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez Stirs the Pot

Ever-present Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed to RMC Sport that he is waiting until next year for news on Mbappe’s future.

Since Cristiano Ronaldo‘s departure for Juventus in 2018, Real Madrid have lacked in their star power. Eden Hazard joined from Chelsea attempting to bridge that gap but has never replicated such form.
