Josip Brekalo Set for Villarreal Move
Winger to Leave Wolfsburg
A move to Spain is reported to be edging ever closer for Wolfsburg winger Brekalo with his destination set to be La Liga side Villarreal. Brekalo is 23 year of age and Wolfsburg have said that they are aware of the players’ desire to leave the Bundesliga club.
He has two years remaining on his current deal with the German side and they value him at around €15 million.
Brekalo will be keen to complete his move and get going for his new side. As things stand, the winger has just six days left of the transfer window to ensure everything goes through.
Wolfsburg manager Mark van Bommel was not happy with Brekalo for wanting to leave and has only given him 20 minutes of game time at the start of the new season in Germany. It now looks as though his wish to move has been granted.
The 23-year-old winger has scored 22 goals and been involved in 17 assists in 122 games in the Bundesliga and the potential is there for him to get better. The fact is, Villarreal are getting themselves a player in the ascendancy.
For all that talent, he may find it will take time for him to break into Villarreal’s first 11, as he is joining a club with plenty of options on the left-hand side, including Samuel Chukwueze, who is going to be hard players to displace. With this in mind, the move is a risk but one he seems willing and now likely to take.
Looking to take the Champions League by storm, Villarreal are strengthening towards the end of the window, which includes a likely deal for Josip Brekalo.
