Atalanta Looking to Sign Morten Thorsby

Improving Squad Depth

Atalanta are keen on adding depth to their squad ahead of another tight schedule for the Italian club. La Dea have been slowly progressing up the ranks in Serie A over the last couple of seasons. The Italian side had only qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history two years back. On both occasions, the team from Bergamo managed to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.

It has been a similar case in Serie A for Atalanta. Since returning to Serie A in 2011, La Dea have slowly progressed up the table. The last three seasons have seen the Italian side finish third in the league. They have also improved their points tally every season and equalled their highest top-flight points tally last season.

Atalanta have already added five first-team signings this summer. They have replaced Pierluigi Gollini with Juan Musso and Cristian Romero with Merih Demiral. They have also added Italian defenders Matteo Lovato and Giuseppe Pezzella.

Atalanta Still to Reach Agreement with AZ Alkmaar for Teun Koopmeiners

Atlanta are looking to add a couple more players before the end of the transfer window. La Dea are keen on signing highly-rated 23-year-old midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. However, the Italian side are yet to reach an agreement with the Dutch club, with AZ Alkmaar wanting at least €18 million for their prized asset.

Koopmeiners is one of the biggest young prospects in Eredivise. The midfielder is already a Netherlands international, having made his debut last season. A product of AZ Alkmaar academy, Koopmeiner has spent his entire professional career with the Dutch side since making his debut in 2017.
