Tanguy Ndombele May Look for an Exit From Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele could look to leave the club this summer after seemingly falling out of favour with new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

According to The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare, Ndombele was left out of his side’s pre-season victory over north London rivals Arsenal yesterday, despite being available for selection.

Frenchman Has Struggled to Win Over Tottenham Managers

Ndombele’s career in English football has been hit and miss since his arrival from Ligue 1 side Lyon in July 2019. A player of undoubted talent, the France international has at times dazzled in the Tottenham midfield, but has also struggled to find consistency.

The 24-year-old was often at war with former Spurs boss José Mourinho, who has been replaced as the club’s head coach by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Tottenham supporters who still hope to see the best of Ndombele in north London will be alarmed by the news that the new manager has already displayed a reluctance to select the 24-year-old, with the new Premier League season now just days away.

Son Heung-min scored the winner as Spurs defeated Arsenal 1-0 in their final pre-season fixture this summer. The match was also notable for the reception afforded to Bukayo Saka by the home fans, who discarded club rivalry to show their support to the England forward on his return from international duty.

Harry Kane Returns to Training

Another high-profile player linked with an exit from Tottenham this summer is striker Harry Kane. The England captain believes he has a gentlemen’s agreement with chairman Daniel Levy that he can leave the club in the current transfer window, and came back for pre-season later than was scheduled.

Kane has since returned to the club from his summer holidays, and is training alone as he completes the government-required period of self-isolation.

The striker has also broken his silence over his late return, saying he has never refused to train with his team-mates. Nuno Espirito Santo plans to speak with the 28-year-old, and has said Kane is available for their first game of the season against Manchester City.
