Roma Eyeing Tammy Abraham to Replace Edin Dzeko

Giallorossi are Keen to Add the Out of Favour Chelsea Man as a Replacement for the Bosnian Striker

Roma have entered the race to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham. I Giallorossi are keen to add a striker this summer to replace Edin Dzeko, who is heading to Inter Milan. Roma are not the only team looking to sign the 23-year-old with Atalanta and Arsenal also in the race to sign the striker.

Tammy Abraham’s future at Chelsea has been in doubt this season. The striker has reportedly been one of the players linked with a move away from the club. Abraham had broken into the starting lineup during the 2019/20 season, following the appointment of Frank Lampard and finished the 2019/20 season as the club’s top scorer.

But the departure of Lampard last season saw Abraham’s falling down the pecking order. The new manager, Thomas Tuchel, has opted to play Kai Havertz and Oliver Giroud ahead of the Englishman. The imminent return of Romelu Lukaku will also likely see the striker pushed further down the pecking order. Despite his inconsistent appearances, the striker has managed 30 goals in 82 appearances for the Blues.

Alternative Options for Roma

Tammy Abraham is not the only option for Giallorossi to replace Edin Dzeko. Roma have also identified Mauro Icardi and Alexander Isak as possible alternatives for the Englishman. Icardi had an impressive time in Serie A with Inter Milan before joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, but the Argentine has failed to live up to his potential in the star-studded French side. The apparent arrival of Lionel Messi has also seen PSG reportedly looking to offload some of their existing players.

Alexander Isak has been a consistent performer for Real Sociedad since joining the club in 2019. The Swedish international also had an impressive display in the recently concluded Euro 2020. Dusan Vlahic is another alternative that Roma are keeping an eye on. But Fiorentina’s steep prices have reportedly made the deal unlikely for Giallorossi.
