Tottenham Hotspur target Cristian Romero is set to tell the board at Atalanta that he wants to join the English club. According to Jake Stokes of football.london and Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine feels that the move is “an opportunity he can’t miss”.

A Priority Move for Romero
After weeks of talks between Spurs and Atalanta for the centre-back, it appears Romero is about to push for the move himself.
He sees moving to the North London club as a priority but Atalanta are yet to accept a bid from Spurs for his transfer.
The Serie A side are demanding around €50 million for the defender; a sum Spurs have so far been reluctant to meet.
However, now that Romero seems keen to push the move through himself, Spurs may be more willing to up their bid to get the move done.

Another boost for Spurs is that Romero being keen on the move seems to have ended any speculation of a bid from Barcelona.
The Spanish side were reportedly battling Spurs for his signature, but the defender seems keen on joining former Atalanta teammate Pierluigi Gollini, who joined Spurs on an initial season-long loan deal.
Should the move go through, Romero will bring undoubted quality to a Spurs defence which is now without Toby Alderweireld after his move to Qatari side Al-Duhail.
Romero has played in the Champions League for Atalanta, while Spurs will be competing in the new Europa Conference League this year.
Spurs, along with five other British sides, will find out their opponents for the play-off round of the competition this afternoon when the draw takes place at 12.30 BST.
Possible opponents could be Aberdeen (Scotland), Breidablik (Iceland), CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria), FC Cukaricki (Serbia), Hammarby (Sweden), Larne (Northern Ireland), Osijek (Croatia) and Pacos de Ferreira (Portugal).
