Kristoffer Ajer Completes Brentford Move

Kristoffer Ajer

Kristoffer Ajer has officially completed his move to newly-promoted Premier League side Brentford. The Bees will be delighted to get the deal over the line as they seek survival at the first time of asking.

Keeping Ivan Toney would have been the main goal this summer, with key additions in defence needed. Now, with Ajer signed, they can happily tick both boxes.

The former Celtic defender, just 24-years-old, won a collection of silverware whilst in Scotland. Now, however, he has a different goal with a different side. The defender goes from a title race to Brentford where the main aim will be to avoid relegation.

Brentford Seeking Survival

Brentford head into the campaign as the underdogs; the small fish in amongst some the Great White Shark, but sometimes the underdogs defy the odds. And defy the odds is exactly what Thomas Frank will be looking to do.

With the football his side played in the Championship last season, too, don’t be surprised to see Thomas Frank’s team cause upsets aplenty. They are part of a modern day transition happening in English football.

In previous years, the teams that gained promotion opted to play the classic 11 men behind the ball system with a target man to aim for. The likes of Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Norwich City and now Brentford have changed that notion in recent years, however.

The smaller sides no longer enjoy sitting back. Instead, they aim to take the fight to the bigger sides and that has forced major upsets over the years.

Brentford, with Kristoffer Ajer, will be aiming to replicate the football they played in the Championship in the top flight against the biggest sides English football has to offer. On a personal note, the now former Celtic defender will be delighted with the move having won all there is to win in Scottish football.
