Ilaix Moriba Yet to Agree on Barcelona Contract Extension

Barcelona have yet again failed in their bid to extend the contract of highly-rated central midfielder Ilaix Moriba, according to Fabrizio Romano. Moriba is one of the biggest talents to graduate from La Masia in recent history. The 18-year-old’s physicality and playing style has already drawn comparison to a young Paul Pogba.

Ilaix Moriba Rejects Contract Extension Talks

Barcelona Determined Not to Lose Ilaix Moriba

Highly-rated La Masia youth product Ilaix Moriba has once again rejected a contract extension proposal from Barcelona. The news comes as a big blow to the Catalan giants who were looking to extend the 18-year-old’s contract. Moriba is reportedly attracting keen to move out of Spain, with the Premier League being one of the rumoured destinations. Despite the setback, Barcelona are determined to keep hold of their prized asset.

Moriba joined La Masia in 2010 after two years with Espanyol. The central midfielder progressed through the youth academy before making his debut for the reserves in 2019. Last season saw Moriba making his first-team debut for the Catalan giants. The midfielder went on to make 18 appearances in the first team. Moriba also became the fifth-youngest player to score in the club’s history.

No Talks Held Between Barcelona and AC Milan for Philippe Coutinho

In other news, Barcelona are still looking to offload Brazilian winger Philippe Coutinho. The Catalan giants are keen to offload the attacking midfielder during this transfer window and have already placed him in the transfer market. AC Milan are reportedly one of the teams interested in signing the 29-year-old. But according to Fabrizio Romano, there have been no talks between the two clubs.

Philippe Coutinho has endured a torrid time at Barcelona following his transfer from Liverpool in 2018. After a decent debut season, Coutinho struggled to establish himself in the starting lineup. Recurring injuries and lack of form saw Coutinho falling further down the pecking order.
