Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard hasn’t ruled out a return to Arsenal for the upcoming season. The 22-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan at the Emirates Stadium and could find himself back in North London.

Real Madrid May be Forced to Sell

With the financial situation in La Liga causing problems for both Real Madrid and Barcelona, the two Spanish heavyweights may be forced to offload some key players.

In the capital, both Raphael Varane and Isco have been linked with moves away, leaving fringe player Odegaard’s future in the balance.

The move would tick plenty of boxes for both parties. In Odegaard, Gunners boss Mikael Arteta will have another promising youngster to work with, while also adding quality to a midfield which has lacked depth at times. While for the Norwegian, it could be a good opportunity to find himself playing some regular football at a decent level after several previous loan spells away from the Bernabeu.

However, it is unclear whether a return would he on a short term or permanent basis, but the midfielder is after a fixed transfer. Speaking to reporters, he said: “Going out on loan is not ideal. What I’m looking for is stability in a team.”

Odegaard is Available at a Bargain Price and Will Bring Quality to Arteta’s Squad

Valued between £25-34 million, Odegaard is a cheaper alternative to some of Arsenal’s other targets, which include Leicester City’s James Maddison, who is valued around the £60 million mark.

He was also highly impressive last season, scoring twice and adding two assists from 20 outings. While those statistics might not be phenomenal, his displays often were.

Alongside Emile Smith Rowe, who is close to signing a new deal with the North London club, Arsenal will have began to transform an ageing midfield into one that is built for the future, with Thomas Partey also in the mix.
