Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Danny Ings Tops List of Targets

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

With the Euros now over, it looks likely that the Tottenham Hotspur transfer news will begin to pick up, starting with Southampton’s Danny Ings. According to Matt Law of the Telegraph, the forward sits at the top of Daniel Levy’s list of targets this summer. Ings himself reportedly desires one last shot at a big club and, with one year remaining on his current Saints deal, could be allowed to leave St Mary’s this summer.

The deal would suit two different scenarios at Spurs. As of right now, Ings would come in to form a deadly duo with Harry Kane. At the same time, however, should Kane decides to leave in pursuit of trophies, the Southampton man would act as his direct replacement.

Danny Ings Ticks Every Box

Clinical, cheap, quick and relentlessly hard-working, Danny Ings ticks almost every box when it comes to a Premier League forward within Spurs’ price range. In fact, the transfer, if pursued by the London club, would be their smartest piece of business for a long time.

The only time a problem could occur is if another club offers the forward a better opportunity. So, in essence, the only thing that could stand in Spurs’ way is their own failure.

Ings wants Champions League football; that’s something Spurs can no longer offer. Give them another two years, and they’re still unlikely to be back among Europe’s elite such is the current power shift in the Premier League. So Ings has a decision to make. If an offer comes in, does he stick around for something better or does he gamble on Nuno Espírito Santo’s attempted rebuild? As the Tottenham Hotspur transfer news ramps up, so will the pressure placed on Danny Ings to make a decision regarding his future.
