Francisco Trincao Joins Wolves on Loan
The 21-year-old is highly-regarded at both Barcelona and in his native Portugal.
Trincao began his career with Portuguese side SC Braga, making his full debut aged 17 in 2018.
After making six appearances during his first season, Trincao became an established member of the first-team during the 2019/20. His performances during the first half of the season earned him a move to the Nou Camp, as a move for him to join following the end of the season was agreed in January.
The move inspired the 21-year-old to enjoy an impressive second half of the season – he added six more goals to his tally, while also registering a further six assists.
Despite being highly-regarded, Trincao has struggled to make an impact on Barcelona’s front three this season. He has made just three starts for Ronald Koeman’s side, scoring just three times.
What Was Said?
Speaking about the signing of Trincao, technical director, Scott Sellars, said: “He’s a really exciting player. It’s an area we’d like more competition, in terms of wide players.
“I think the fans are going to enjoy watching him play, he drives with the ball well and has good creativity.
“We’ve watched him a lot, especially over the last couple of months, so he’s been on our radar for quite a while.
“He’s got loads of quality – signing for Barcelona from Braga shows what potential he’s got. He’s 21 and has played quite a lot of games in La Liga, so we think he’s ready for the Premier League.
“He’s a player who drifts past people and he has a great change of direction when he’s moving with the ball.
“He has great speed over two or three yards, to change direction and get away from people, can score and create, and is an exciting player.”
